I'm Crystal Black — former pro volleyball player, longtime coach, and mom, now a family therapy clinician at Project Family, LLC. Sessions are by secure video, built for privacy — including for households living life in the public eye.
Affairs, secrets, and discoveries that upend everything you thought you knew. I work with betrayed partners one-on-one and with couples deciding what comes next — steadying things first, then rebuilding trust or finding a clear way forward.
Being married to professional sports — an athlete, a coach, a program — is its own world: relocations, seasons apart, public scrutiny, and an identity that can quietly disappear into someone else's career. I've lived in that world my whole adult life. Sessions are telehealth only — no waiting rooms, no run-ins — and what happens in session stays there.
School stress, anxiety, conflict at home, blended-family friction, big transitions. I work with the whole system — not just the kid in the chair.
Communication loops you can't break, parenting on different pages, feeling more like roommates than teammates. We change the pattern, not just the conversation.
Performance pressure, injury and identity, burnout, and the parent–coach–athlete triangle. I've sat in every seat in the gym — player, pro, coach, and sports parent.
Anxiety, life transitions, boundaries with family, and figuring out what you actually want next.
Most people find a page like this in a hard week — sometimes in the middle of the night, after a discovery that changed everything, or after one more fight that went nowhere.
If that's you: you don't need the right words yet, and you don't need to know how you want this to end. You just need someone who won't be shocked, won't take sides, and won't waste your time. That part, I can promise.
Most problems live in patterns, not people.
I trained in Structural Family Therapy. We look at how your family or relationship is organized — who carries what, where the lines blur, what happens when stress hits — and then we change the pattern in the session, not just talk about it.
It's active and practical. Built for people who want something different at home, not just to feel understood in the room.
Secure video sessions from wherever you are in Georgia
A full intake session first, so we start with the whole picture
Clear direction between sessions — things to actually try
Partners and parents join when it helps; one-on-one when it doesn't
I came to this work the long way. I played volleyball in college and professionally, then spent years coaching — middle school through elite club — while raising my family. Coaching taught me what therapy later confirmed: people change fastest when someone helps them change the pattern, not just the mindset.
I earned my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University in 2026 and practice with Project Family, LLC, seeing clients across Georgia by secure video. My work is grounded in Structural Family Therapy — and sharpened by a lifetime inside competitive sports. I still coach. I still compete. I bring both into the room.
Sessions are billed through Project Family, LLC — no insurance required.
The first appointment is a full intake; ongoing sessions run about an hour.
Nothing is filed with an insurance company, and no outside party directs or reviews your care.
Sessions are by secure video from wherever you are — your home, your office, on the road. No run-ins.
What happens in session stays there — confidential, contained, and handled with care.
No — sessions are private pay through Project Family, LLC. That's a feature, not a limitation: no insurance company sits inside your care, no claims are filed, and your records stay between us.
For the work I do, yes — research on telehealth therapy consistently finds outcomes comparable to in-person care. And you gain privacy, no commute, and sessions that actually fit your life.
No. You don't need to know the ending to start. We steady things first — clarity about the relationship comes from the work, not before it.
Yes. One person changing their part of the pattern changes the pattern. A lot of couples work begins with one motivated partner.
Project Family's office contacts you to schedule. Your first appointment is a full intake — one session to map the whole picture. From there we set a regular rhythm, usually weekly to start.
